Event Booking Terms and Conditions
These terms apply to workshops, classes and other events organised by Leeds Bradford Iyengar Yoga (LBIY). By making a booking, you confirm that you have read and accepted these terms.
Bookings and payment
Your place is confirmed when LBIY receives full payment and sends you a booking confirmation.
Places are subject to availability and cannot be reserved without payment. Please check that the event is suitable for your level of experience before booking. Any experience requirements will be included in the event description.
You are responsible for providing accurate contact information so that we can send you confirmation and any important updates about the event.
Cancelling your booking
• If you need to cancel, please contact LBIY as soon as possible.
• If you cancel more than 14 days before the event, we will refund your payment, less any non-refundable booking or payment-processing fees.
• If you cancel 14 days or less before the event, a refund will only be given if we can fill your place from a waiting list or by another participant.
• No refund will be given if you do not attend or leave the event early.
Bookings for leisure activities taking place on a specified date do not normally carry a statutory 14-day cooling-off period. These cancellation terms do not affect your statutory rights.
If LBIY changes or cancels an event
LBIY may need to change the teacher, venue, timetable or other event arrangements. We will notify participants of any significant change as soon as reasonably possible.
If LBIY cancels an event, you will be offered:
• a transfer to a rescheduled event; or
• a full refund of the event fee.
LBIY is not responsible for travel, accommodation or other costs incurred in connection with an event. We recommend checking the cancellation arrangements for any travel or accommodation you book.
If circumstances outside our reasonable control prevent an event from proceeding as planned, we may reschedule it, move it online where appropriate or cancel it. If the event is cancelled, the event fee will be refunded.
Health and participation
Yoga is a physical activity. You are responsible for deciding whether an event is suitable for you and for working within your own capacity.
Please tell the teacher before the event about any injury, medical condition, pregnancy, recent surgery or other circumstance that may affect your practice. If you are unsure whether it is appropriate for you to participate, please seek advice from a qualified healthcare professional.
The teacher may offer alternative ways of working where appropriate but cannot provide medical diagnosis or treatment. You should stop practising and inform the teacher if you feel pain, dizziness or become unwell.
LBIY reserves the right to refuse or discontinue participation where this is reasonably considered necessary for a person’s safety or wellbeing, or for the safety and wellbeing of others.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Personal belongings
Please take reasonable care of your belongings. LBIY cannot accept responsibility for loss of or damage to personal property unless caused by its negligence.
Behaviour
Participants are expected to behave respectfully towards the teacher, organisers, venue staff and other attendees.
LBIY reserves the right to ask someone to leave an event if their behaviour is unsafe, disruptive, discriminatory or inappropriate. A refund will not normally be given in these circumstances.
Photography and recording
Photography, filming or audio recording by participants is not permitted unless agreed in advance by LBIY and the teacher.
If LBIY plans to take photographs or recordings for publicity or educational purposes, participants will be informed. We will seek appropriate consent, and you may choose not to be included.
Concessionary places
LBIY offers a 20% reduction on event fees to help make events accessible to people experiencing financial hardship.
Applications are considered in strict confidence, and all decisions are at the discretion of the LBIY Committee. You may apply for the concessionary rate if you are:
• receiving Universal Credit;
• receiving Pension Credit (a means-tested benefit, not the State Pension);
• receiving Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA);
• receiving Employment and Support Allowance (ESA);
• receiving Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or Personal Independence Payment (PIP);
• receiving another means-tested benefit;
• in full-time education; or
• granted refugee status.
If you are experiencing financial hardship but do not fall within one of these categories, please contact us confidentially. The Committee may consider individual circumstances at its discretion.
LBIY may ask for appropriate evidence of eligibility. If you need evidence of a benefit claim, you can find guidance on how to obtain it on the GOV.UK proof of benefits page.
Please apply for a concession before booking through the LBIY contact page. Concessionary rates cannot normally be applied retrospectively and are subject to event availability.
Personal information
We use the information supplied with your booking to administer the event, process payment, communicate important information and support your safe participation.
Personal information will be handled in accordance with the LBIY Privacy Policy. We will not add you to a general marketing list unless you have separately agreed to receive those communications.
